After much research we have decided to use the Kuranda dog beds at the Hotel and are very pleased!!

The Kuranda bed

Our main concern at the Hotel is that our dogs are comfortable, dry and warm. Given our climate and our insistence that dogs get lots of outdoor play time we found that we were constantly trying to dry out beds and change bedding for our guests. A large pet cushion can easily soak up a gallon of wet dog and getting it dry is nearly impossible.  There is also the tendency for a dog to get involved in a shred-fest of one of the pillow style beds. We originally had trouble getting used to the alternative approach of these beds.  They simply don’t say, “Warm and Cozy” the way we imagine a dog bed should. To answer this we say, “Don’t be fooled by the look!” These beds have proven to be very desirable and sought after here at the Hotel. Their height keeps them off of the cooler floor surface and is also much easier for older dogs to get on and off. The bed is essentially a hammock and the dogs settle right in on them.  They are easy to keep clean and sterile and provide us with the comfort that the dogs are living it up here at the Hotel. We are on our first month with these beds and we will keep you posted as to how they hold up.
