“Paws up Baby Paws Up!!!!”

Hi Ruth and Jeff,

I just wanted to say thank you so much for all the work and effort you have put in with Birch over the past year. I've taken Birch to many, many kennels over the past 10 years (some in Canada, some in the United States) and out of all the kennels he's been to, he's never come home as balanced as he has when he returns from your place.
In the past, he's always been anxious (clearly - he's a Lab!) when he gets in the car, but whenever he hops in after coming back from your kennel, he's calm and relaxed. He trots into the house in a very normal manner, doesn't even sniff around, and will just complacently curl up on his mat and rest.
Now some people would say that this is because you guys exercise the crap out of him, and while I know that's true, Birch is no stranger to exercise. We've taken him on mult-day backpacking hikes where he's so tired that he can barely keep his eyes open in the car back home - but he'll never be calm and balanced like when he returns from being with you.
I don't know what you guys do, or how you do it, but please keep it up! Birch is such a high-strung, anxious, fear-biting crazy pup that I almost want to cry at seeing him so balanced after he's been with you. You clearly create a healthy pack environment that allows the dogs to work out their issues together, dog-to-dog, and that is so much what Birch needs. He has always trusted dogs more than humans, and the energy you create in your environment works beautifully for him. I am actually considering having him come and stay with you for a weekend every month, even if I'm not going away, just so he can achieve that balance in himself. After all, what kind of owner would I be if I left my dog in a permanent state of anxiety and fear?

So thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being you and doing what you do. "Your thing" is exactly what my crazy pooch needs - and I've never been able to see him like this in his life. Given all his social challenges, you have accepted him and worked for him, not against him. Without even trying to change him, you have, and although his balance doesn't last that long (perhaps I need a pack like yours?) he is visibly a happier dog.

I joke that sending him to you is like sending him to camp, but it's so much more than that. Visiting you, for Birch, is a respite for his mind - from his hellish past and whatever other factors that cause him to be so bi-polar with humans.

A bucketful of heartwarming thanks,

Brigitte

Hello Ruth and  Jeff,
Thank you so much for taking care of  my Weimeraner, Molly. You did a terrific job! Without your willingness to take  an old dog with special challenges, I would have had to skip a vacation this  year.  I could not bear the thought of being so far away from her during some of  her last days. I really appreciate the care and concern that both of you gave  to Molly.  I know being away from me was hard on her, but I also know that I  could not have found a better place for her to be with more understanding care  providers. Your attention to every detail of her daily needs and her regular  regiment meant that I could take a wonderful break, knowing that she was in good  hands.  I will recommend you to all my friends with dogs that are planning a  trip to Whistler.  I wish you all the very best.  It would indeed be a privilege  if our paths cross again!

Our family recently was planning a move  from Bermuda to Whistler. Our two little girls Bailee and Karma had never flown  before, never been to Canada before, and never been away from us for more than a  few hours at a time! The prospect of putting them on a plane was terrifying!  Luckily through some research we managed to connect with Ruth and Jeff!!! Ruth  and Jeff were fantastic and instrumental in the planning of the girls arrival  into Canada (as they were flying solo) and excellent at putting our fears to  rest. From picking them up at the Vancouver airport in the middle of the night  to making sure they acclimated to the snow and being away for the first time  they kept us up to date! They ended up taking care of our girls for 3.5 months  until we were able to find a place that allowed pets!!! They were extremely  supportive while we house hunted like mad! We could not have been more grateful  for their level of commitment to our dogs and their excellent facilities! Our  girls love going back for day care! They are so much more than your average dog  kennel! I would not hesitate to recommend Ruth's Pet Hotel to anyone with doggy  care needs! They really love the dogs and it shows!

We have been using the services of Ruth's Pet Hotel for the past three years. We typically go away for four weeks in the summer and always leave our pet Doberman "Mickey" at the hotel. The first year Mickey was having problems socializing with other dogs and I was a little concerned about her behaviour (she was 4 years when we got her). However after 4 weeks at Ruth's she has become the most social dog in our neighbourhood.
As a testament to how much Mickey loves the hotel, about 8 month's ago The Hotel moved to beside the Industrial Park (where we live) Whenever we let Mickey out of our house we get a call from Ruth to come pick up Mickey at the hotel. Mickey and I recommend Ruth's Pet Hotel

Our trip was fabulous and all the more so for knowing that Woofer was in such good hands - I heard from quite a few friends in Pemby that he was out and about!! Thank you so much for all your care and love - he is home now as are we for a while but we will have no hesitation in using your services again and highly recommending the "hotel".

I was in a bind.  My family was called out of town unexpectedly.  I had no one to watch my 7 month  old Black Lab cross puppy Roxy.  She had not been crate trained, unfortunately because she had been going to work with my husband.  What to do??? Ruth’s Pet Hotel to the rescue!!  Ruth and Jeff provided Roxy with a safe, clean environment and plenty of exercise, socialization and care.  I was able to go to work, not worry about Roxy and focus on my work.  I recommend Ruth’s Pet Hotel as an excellent alternative to dog walking.  It is a full day of dog care and owner satisfaction.  Lisadawn Shackleford

Hi Ruth,

That's a great picture of Tucker and Moe. They love staying with you guys. Thanks for taking such good care of them. Thanks for the eggs, they are delicious!
Have a great day!

I would most definitely recommend Ruth's Pet Hotel to anyone,  and I know  Clover would too! We bring Clover twice a week to Ruth's and any morning we get  in the car she is eagerly looking out the window to see if today is the day she  gets to go to daycare! Pulling into the driveway tops the excitement for Clover  as she jumps out of the car and pulls all the way to the front door. Ruth and  Jeff have always shown great care with Clover and we always feel comfortable  leaving her in their hands. Clover's behaviour is dramatically improved after a  days play at Ruth's as she gets to be active all day long while socializing with  other dogs. Bringing Clover to Ruth's makes it much easier on us for the days  when we can't be exercising her and giving her the attention that she  deserves.  Seeing Clovers smile as she hops back into the car at the end of the  day is proof for us that it's the best choice for her.  And having her sleep like  a baby all night afterwards is a great bonus!

I travel a lot for my work and feel confident about leaving my doggie, Mika, at Ruth’s Pet Hotel when I am away.  Ruth and Jeff take wonderful care of Mika and he has a fabulous time playing with all the other dogs in residence.  Mika was a very timid puppy and Ruth has gone above and beyond the call of duty to make sure he is happy and well socialized.  He is so much more confident now thanks to his time at the Hotel.  In fact, on his last visit, he lept out of the car with his tail wagging all excited about greeting his doggie friends and having some quality playtime.  Any dog owner should feel satisfied that their furry friend will have a great vacation at Ruth’s

Any time we take a long vacation, we drive all the way from Port Moody to leave our dog “Norton” with Ruth and Jeff.   Norton usually whines for a solid  ½ hour whenever we leave him anywhere.  When we drop him off here he’s upset for a few seconds, then he happily trots off with his tail high in the air, right at Jeff’s side. We don’t think there could be any clearer sign of a comfortable place for Norton to spend time away from us.

Sincerely,

Jay & Britt

Kovi

I would like to thank you so much for taking care of Kovi like you do, when he's staying at your Pet Hotel.   Last Xmas when he went there for three weeks, it was so good for him to be able to run that much in your yard.  I think it gave him the opportunity to spend his overflow of energy.  I know that because  he went to your place  he is much calmer & relaxed. He's a much better dog.  He listens really well and he's not that crazy haha!

You can be sure that anytime I'm planing to go away  you're in my mind to look after him again with no hesitation at all!

Thanks for doing a such great job!

Best regards,

Jocelyne
